There are approximately 12 types of certification reports for the export of common products to the United States, as follows:
1.FCC certification
FCC certification is mandatory and is a certification controlled by the United States Communications Commission, testing electromagnetic compatibility and RF. Therefore, when electrified products enter the U.S. market, they must go through the FCC. This is a mandatory requirement.
2.FDA test report
FDA is the food and drug department, authorized by the United States, and is responsible for the safety of drugs, food, cosmetics and instruments in the United States. Note that FDA has testing and registration, there is no such thing as certification.
3.UL certification
UL certification is a certification issued by the well-known UL organization in the United States and is highly recognized in the American market. UL is a voluntary certification that certifies the safety of products and materials. The scope of UL certification is very wide. You can apply for UL certification from large machinery and equipment to parts and materials. The UL application fee is also relatively expensive, and the cost of testing, factory inspection and documentation is the highest and the cycle is the longest.
4.US ETL
ETL SEMKO is part of the Intertek organization. As long as any electrical, mechanical or electromechanical product bears the ETL inspection mark, it indicates that it has been tested and complies with relevant industry standards. Compared with UL certification, ETL certification is relatively less well-known in North America, but the cost is also lower and the application time is shorter. The scope of control includes audio and video, lighting, home appliances, information products, power tools, medical products, testing instruments, etc.
5. American cTUVus
cTUVus certification is the North American certification of TUV Rheinland. Although it is not as well-known in the market as UL, the certification fee is relatively low and the application time is short. The scope of control includes audio and video, lighting, home appliances, information products, power tools, medical products, testing instruments, etc.
6. American MET
The full name of MET certification is Maryland Electrical Testing. The mark is applicable to the U.S. and Canadian markets and controls audio and video products, industrial control products, lighting fixtures, small household appliances, communication products, medical products, power tools, testing equipment, etc.
7. United States CPSIA
CPSIA certification is a consumer product bill signed by US President Bush. It requires toys and children’s products to be tested by a CPSC-accredited testing agency to ensure that they are free of lead, phthalates and other harmful substances, and to protect children from harmful substances. Amazon toy products in the United States will require CPSIA certification before they can be put on the shelves for sale.
8. California 65
The full name of California Bill 65 is the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Substances Enforcement Act. It is a protection bill for drinking water and food in California, which controls harmful substances including lead, cadmium and other toxic substances. Products commonly requested by customers for testing include glassware, ceramic products, children’s products, exterior decorative materials and other products.
9.Energy Star Certification
U.S. Energy Star
Energy Star Energy Star certification is a program promoted by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. It is a voluntary certification aimed at saving energy. Test items include safety, EMI, surge, noise, and light performance. It is common for LED lamp customers to require this certification. The light performance test requirements include relatively high length.
10.DOE certification
DOE is a mandatory certification by the U.S. Department of Energy. Products in the list must be DOE certified, such as chargers, power adapters, TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners, etc.
11.CEC certification
CEC certifies the energy efficiency standards of California, USA. Products sold to California, USA, need to meet CEC energy efficiency requirements in order to save energy, improve efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
12.DOT certification
US DOT
DOT certification is mandatory, and all motor vehicles and accessories sold in the United States need to pass DOT certification.
These certifications cover electronic products, home appliances, lighting products, textiles, toys, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food utensils, motor vehicles and other fields to ensure that products comply with relevant regulations and standards of the US market.
